Gr 11 learner, Keeziah Essop’s performance at the EC Secondary Schools Athletics Championships was a masterclass in sprinting, solidifying her position as the province’s top sprinter. The result of an unwavering pre-season is her exceptional performance. Keeziah achieved a record-breaking Double Gold when she set a new record in the 100m with a blazing 11.80s, surpassing the previous 12.17s and in the 200m with a commanding 24.80s, setting another new record. She was awarded the Best Overall Track Athlete title at the Championships, recognising her talent. Keeziah now advances to the National Championships as the athlete to beat, having broken two records and secured two gold medals.
