QUEENSTOWN GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL MATRIC RESULTS PRESS STATEMENT
We are very pleased with the performance of our 2011 matric candidates.
92 girls wrote the exam. All passed. This is the twentieth year in succession that Queenstown Girls' High School has obtained a 100% pass rate. 91% of those who wrote achieved a "Bachelors" pass qualifying them for admission to university. Those who did not obtain a "Bachelors" endorsement all obtained "diploma' endorsements. The class of 2011 recorded 196 (confirmed) subject distinctions with 18 candidates achieving an "A" aggregate. The top performing candidate at Queenstown Girls' High School was Siyasanga Hayi with 8 subject distinctions. Candidates who obtained 7 subject distinctions were: Mtwakazi Bula, Nontlantla Mkwenkweni, Kanyisa Ntombini and Miché Coetzee. A further 6 candidates obtained 6 subject distinctions.
An especially pleasing feature of this year's results is that 21 candidates achieved distinctions for English Home Language – despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of our students do not speak English at home.
